A subdomain is part of a web address which is under the main domain name, for example name.example.com. Actually, even in www.example.com the "www" element is a subdomain given that the fully qualified domain name is only "example.com". Every subdomain could have its own site and records and can even be hosted using a different provider if you wish to use a feature that isn't provided by your current service provider. One example for using a subdomain is if you have a business site and an online store under a subdomain where clients can acquire your products. You can also have a forum in which they can comment on the products and by employing subdomains instead of subfolders you'll avoid any probability of all sites going down if you perform maintenance, or update one of the site scripts. Keeping the websites separated is also less risky in case there is a script security breach.

Subdomains in Shared Hosting

Each shared hosting package which we provide will enable you to create hundreds of subdomains with no more than a few mouse clicks inside your hosting CP. They are going to be listed in the section in which you create them and arranged under the main domain for more convenience, so that you can very easily monitor all of them. In addition, you can access many functions for any of the subdomains through right-click context menus - as an example, you can view or edit their DNS records, access the site files, and a lot more. While setting up a new subdomain, you're also going to have many options that you can pick from - determine the default access folder, create customized error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions or select if the subdomain is going to use a shared or a dedicated IP address. The number of subdomains you'll have is completely up to you as we have not restricted this feature for any of our packages.

Subdomains in Semi-dedicated Hosting

With our semi-dedicated server plans, you will be able to create an unrestricted amount of subdomains for any of the domains which you add as hosted in the account. It will take a couple of clicks to create a new subdomain and throughout the process you will be able to add unique error pages for it, decide if it will use a shared or a dedicated IP, change the default folder that it's going to access or activate FrontPage Extensions. All subdomains which you have inside the account are going to be arranged under their root domain in alphabetical order and you're going to be able to see and manage all of them without difficulty. Using instant access buttons and right-click menus you'll also be able to jump to the site files inside the File Manager section or check logs, visitor statistics and other information about any of your subdomains.
